A sodded lawn needs no special care because it is a healthy mature lawn when installed, unlike a sprigged or seeded lawn which requires years of nurturing to reach maturity. After it has been installed, just water, mow and fertilize your lawn as needed and it will remain a healthy, green carpet of grass requiring very little maintenance.
You can install sod anytime during the year when the ground can be tilled. There is no need to wait for the “right” season to put in your lawn.
According to the Professional Lawn Care Association of American (PLANET) and the University of Georgia, a sodded lawn will be 15 times more effective at controlling runoff than a seed established lawn, even after several years of growth. Erosion by wind or water is nonexistent when using sod.
